Pickwick Bicycle Club Magazine olume 19 No.2 October 2022

As the applause subsided for our much appreciated entertainers, it was over to Vincent
Hayes of the Brick Lane Ensemble to invite guests to raise their glasses to the “ Immortal
Memory of Charles Dickens & The Pickwick Bicycle Club. Such was the atmosphere in the
room, that time had passed quickly and it was time for President Samuel Pickwick to respond
on behalf of the members.
He thanked everyone for their presence, especially the ladies, at this, the last event of
our anniversary, admonished the noisier element in the room, and said how proud he was to
be President at such unique Club functions during his year of office. He then invited the
members to rise, & raise their glasses to the guests, and wished everyone a safe journey
home, before we concluded proceedings by linking arms for Auld Lang Syne.
