Bob Sawyer (Gerry Taylor) then appeared on the stage - was he to be part of our
entertainment? No, he was there to welcome the many guests & ladies to our celebratory
luncheon - see pp15 for full details.

It was then time for Hon. Sec.Buzfuz to perform his last official duty at a Club function as
he introduced the five newly elected members to our Club. These were: Matthew Hargroves
to be known as “No.20”; Matthew Samuel-Camps as “Sam Weller”; Philip Holford will be
known as “Tony Weller”; James Tucker as “Sam the Driver”; and finally Simon Martell to be
known as “Count Smalltork”. We welcome them into the Club, trust they will be well versed in
all aspects of the Club & The Pickwick Papers, and carry the Club identity forward with pride.

We were then admirably entertained by the Brick Lane Music Hall ensemble, in vibrant
costumes performing well known period songs (known to the older members at least…),
dexterity on their respective instruments, solo performances, and encouraging everyone to
join in whenever they felt inclined to do so.
