New Trophies for those Ordinary Bicycles….
At the AGM in December, our President revealed some new acquisitions of silverware for
the Club. With the assistance of the Marquis of Filletoville, these two trophies originating
from 1910, were acquired when they appeared for sale and it seems that they are probably
the oldest surviving cycling trophies in the Club’s possession.
Following some research, the President established that
Club member Sniggle (Terry Wright), won the Grand Old
Ordinary Challenge Cup every year between 1966-1970, well
before he became a member of our Club.
Sizeable trophies that they are, one wonders where they
have been for the past 50 years?
Since their arrival into our custody, our President and
Pruffle have been in deep discussion to decide where to hold
a race in future, to coincide with the Club anniversary ride
to take place every year in future.
