Pickwick Bicycle Club Magazine Volume 14 No.1 March 2017
On Table H we have His Honour, Judge Jeffrey Blackett, a former Royal Navy Commodore.
He is Judge Advocate General of the Armed Forces and was the Chief Disciplinary Officer
at the Rugby Football Union for many years. He was recently appointed the Chairman of
the Professional Game Board, which looks after the relationship between the RFU and
Premiership Rugby. So there you have it – the ability to apprehend and dispense justice as
well all in one place here at the Grand Connaught Rooms.
I would now like to introduce our principal Guest - Dominic Holland.
A comedian, author and broadcaster; he won the 1993 Perrier Best Newcomer Award in
Edinburgh and his BBC Radio4 series “The Small World of Dominic Holland” won a Comic
Heritage award. It may be a Pickwickian moment as “The Small World” refers to his 5ft
6ins height. The chair is available for you to stand on Sir, as Mr Pickwick would have
chosen. His credits include: Have I Got News for You; They Think It’s All Over; The Royal
Variety Performance; Loose Ends; Never Mind the Buzzcocks; The News Quiz; and The
Wright Stuff. Described in the Sunday Times as the UK’s master of observational comedy
– YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
Members of the Pickwick Bicycle Club, please be upstanding.
The toast is “Our Guests”
