The Vice-Captain Murmurings………..

Pickwickian Felicitations for the New Year!

Welcome Back and thank you!

As your Vice-Captain, I had to step up at last minute to stand in for our esteemed Captain
as he was caught in the self-isolation requirements coming back from Spain.

It was so good to be back and meet up with so many of you, it was such a relief!

In my role as Vice-Captain, I became the master of ceremonies at very short notice, and I
would like to thank each and every one of you for your support and kind words, before,
during and after the event. A special thanks goes to Mr Watty ( the outgoing Mr Pickwick)
for his help, advice and encouragement during the lunch. I am not a natural public speaker,
but with his support, actually really enjoyed the event!

It was great to meet and be introduced to the new members, that were brought into the
Club during the two year gap.

I would like to extend further special thanks to Mr Watty, Past President, during the two
years we were apart, as he has worked tirelessly to keep the Pickwick tradition going and
was the main protagonist of the very successful Zoom Pie Dinner. As well as this, he
organised other things such as the mugs etc. which kept us all going through those tough
times.

Finally, thanks go to Mr Trundle (Tim West) for his help with the Punchbowl ceremony.

I look forward to meeting you all at the 150 (plus 2) anniversary on February 25 at the

Saddler’s Hall, and at the Spring Luncheon in May when we allow ladies to attend for the
first time in a long while!
