Your Captain has some words
for you…….
Dear Fellow Pickwickians, I wish you a Happy New Year.
Let us hope we are now over the worst of our pandemic and that we can now start to meet
as a Club on a regular basis again and finally celebrate our Birthday?
I would like to begin this Captain’s words by thanking our past President, Mr Watty. He did
a wonderful job, keeping our Club together over the last two years, working tirelessly keeping
in touch with members and arranging and supporting events.
We are getting ever closer to celebrating our Club’s 150 Anniversary, some two years late!
th
We have received good support from our members for the prestigious dinner at Saddlers
Hall on the 25 February. We start at 18.00 hrs and it is going to be a truly wonderful
th
evening and not to be missed. It is never too late to book your ticket if you have not done so.
We are to have our Presidents Luncheon on Thursday 12th May at the New Connaught
Rooms. Please can I ask all members to make a big effort to support this lunch. This is the
one and only time you are likely to be able to bring ladies to one of our Club luncheons. We
have spent a lot of money on our anniversary celebrations, and therefore really do need your
support at this event to help with the overall funds.
May I remind all members to come properly dressed and to arrive on time for events.
I am hoping we will now be able to hold all of our usual events for the remainder of the year
and hope as members you will consider supporting as many of them as possible.
With Pickwickian Greetings, I wish our Club and members, a successful year ahead.
Dr Payne / Club Captain
