The Hampton Court Bike Ride……………..
!
The gathering at Imber Court on a splendid October
th
day saw some 40 riders set off for the 8 year of
this notable event.

Part 1 -With the riders split into two groups, I led
the veterans on a more leisurely 12-mile ride off
along the Thames towpath from Hampton Court
towards Kingston, then onto Henry V111’s Royal
Bushy Park at Hampton Wick. It was a very warm
autumn day and the 14 riders enjoyed an incident
free ride around the park, enjoying the sight and sound of rutting deer and a flight of
green parakeets. At the 10-mile marker we enjoyed a very welcome pint and
refreshments at The Star public house. Suitably refreshed we set off back to Imber
Court via the Royal Palace at Hampton Court for a traditional Pickwickian lunch.

For an un-explained reason, Alfred Jingle (aka Ron
Beale) decided it was time of the year to put his
clock forward, and in doing so, arrived an hour late!!
Un-perturbed and from memory from of last year, he
set off in hot pursuit. In his enthusiasm he forgot to
get the name of the halfway pub, so inadvertently
cycled straight past his colleagues enjoying their
pints, and arrived back at Imber Court 10mins in
front of the peloton!! For this achievement I decided
he should be awarded the Pedal Trophy at the post-
! lunch presentation.
An excellent day was had by all……………. Hunt
