A copy of “The History of the Pickwick Bicycle Club” is available through the Petersfield
Bookshop:-
This is a copy of the early history of the club published in 1905 compiled by the honourable Mr
Crushton.
This book was the copy owned by Harry Duesbury and is signed on the end
paper with his own name and also his club sobriquet, Jingles. He was a
member of the club from around the late 1870s, was a one time Secretary
and Vice President.
He was mentioned and pictured in the book itself.
The book has green cloth gilt titles and is in very good condition as advised
by the bookshop but with a little warping to the boards at the bottom corner.
The shop also had for sale copies of club memorabilia which the club have
purchased.
The book is available at a cost of £450, following the purchase of club
memorabilia. Interested members should contact the bookshop directly .

Update on the Club Blazers and Waistcoats
The new club blazers and waistcoats were delivered on time for the
President’s Luncheon. Significant colour and presence was added to the event
when a number of members wore them for the occasion.
A special mention must go to Samuel Pickwick who was resplendent in all
three items: club blazer, waistcoat and bow tie!
The original material has now been used, having supplied 24 blazers and 18
waistcoats. I would like to thank the membership for their support and also the members who put
up the money in the first instance to allow us to pursue the idea at a reasonable cost.
For the future, members will be able to order club blazers and waistcoats which will have to be
batched into minimum order numbers of 6-12 garments. The price going forward for the blazer
is £235 and waistcoats will be £100.
Please use the original ordering details and/or contact me: Samkin; Peter Legg:

perhaps no special reason, give some thought to the numbers who are patiently awaiting election to our
club. Waiting up to eight years for that day when they too, like so many, can entertain their own friends,
family and colleagues in our wonderfully unique way.
Lower attendance may also have an effect on the ticket prices, and we wouldn’t want that, would we?
Would make things worse, especially for those retired old ‘uns among us.
With Mr.Pickwick’s excursion across the Channel, the Benson Rally, The Hampton Court Revival Ride and
the Garden Party yet to come, let’s see if there is a Revival of the great Pickwickian Spirit that some of us
really do cherish.
