The Felix Fund Charity says Thank You…………
Via the secretarial channels of the Club I received the following letter from Capt. Robert Evans,
which deserved more than appearing on the letters page. And a hand written letter no less, which
unfortunately I have had to replicate since the original would not have reproduced well in print.

Dear Fred,
Firstly I would like to offer my sincere thanks for your kind invitation to
attend your Club’s illustrious dinner. I had a fantastic day and was
made to feel extremely welcome from start to finish. I particularly
enjoyed the quirky ceremonial aspects; including the soubriquets, the
Fanfares, songs and most of all the traditional ride of the Penny
Farthing through the beautiful Connaught Rooms.
Secondly I give a heartfelt thank you for the Pickwick Bicycle Club’s
generosity in handing over a substantial cheque for £1200, towards the
Felix Fund Charity. As I’m sure you’re aware, this Bomb Disposal Charity
is run on behalf of all those who have conducted, assisted in or been
associated with Explosive Ordnance Disposal duties and their families.
Those funds raised help with the provision of Normalisation Breaks to
help families cope with returning to normal life after stressful and often
dangerous tours. It also helps with the provision of welfare facilities and
is instrumental in the on-going provision of a hardship fund to aid
those in need.
Your generous contribution will go a long way to help with these
worthwhile endeavours and you have our complete gratitude as a result
Your Sincerely
Captain Robert J. Evans
