Ryder or Rider?

I received a letter from Stiggins enclosing a photo of him clutching a cup - so I’m
thinking what event have I missed off the Club calendar…..but read on……….

The Red Nosed Mr Stiggins achieved a sensational
‘moment of a lifetime’ recently at the end of season,
Captain’s Charity Golf day at his club. He was invited
to join his Captain, Club Champion, and Sandy Jones
(Chief Exec of the PGA) in a four-ball at the Beau
Desert Golf Club. Not only was he ‘in’ the prizes, but
as event MC, he got to introduce, courtesy of Sandy,
the “Ryder Cup”.

Stiggins reports that Sandy had never played at this
club, although he was a member of another local one,
and was impressed with the course – his game was
pretty good too. The day raised £££’s for Teenage
Cancer and left ‘old’ Stiggins with a memory to
treasure for ever. But then he had to give it back!

Maybe our illustrious member should be encouraged to participate in next years Pickwick
Golf Day, and then he might be lucky again, and get to hold ‘Jinkins Balls’ – that’s if Baillie
Mac Something will let go of them.
