REPORT OF THE HAMPTON COURT RIDE 3RD OCTOBER 2013
or the 7th year running "Pruffle” (aka Aiden Heggaty) and I, ("Hunt") had
between us arranged 2 rides based on the historic Hampton Court meets of
Fthe 1870s. Pruffle lead the more enthusiastic riders on a 30 mile ride around
the Surrey Hills and I lead the veterans around the Thames towpath and into
Royal Bushy Park for a 12 mile ride on pre 1970s machines.

comfortable?
The veterans ranged from "Brooks" on his solid tyre safety, 3 penny farthings
including one ridden by "Mr. Watty" (more about him later) a golden Sunbeam,
a Raleigh cross frame, 3 Raleigh Superbs, 4 sports cycles from the 70s, and a
Claud Butler ridden by "Count Smorktork", who once again made the long trip down
from Sunderland with 2 guests. Also worthy of his efforts to attend was "Frank
Simmery" who made the trip from Germany once again.
