Eighteen riders mounted up in overcast weather and set off from Imber Court
Surrey for the 2 mile road section that took us onto the Thames towpath for the
5 mile traffic free ride to the historic town of Kingston.

At Speed……………

Three miles in "Mr. Watty" allegedly had a breakdown, the only one of the day,
claiming to lose the rear spring from his Penny! At that precise moment a very
attractive blonde lady appeared from nowhere, in a flash he dismounted with the
chat up line .... “Do you have a piece of elastic on your person?” To his dismay she
removed a hair-band !!!!

At Rest………………………………

After attaching it to his brake spring he thanked the maiden and we continued on
to the Royal Park. At the 8 mile post the heavens opened but as luck would have it
we were in reach of our mid-morning refreshments in Hampton Hill.
