Just as the draft magazine was completed, the
extremely sad news came about the death of
Queen Elizabeth II. Therefore this page has been
changed in order to make our own reflection of
her historic reign of seventy years.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926 -2022
HM Queen Elizabeth II has been the bedrock of the nation for most of our
lifetimes, conducting her reign with integrity, empathy, and acquitting herself
in accordance with her promise to the nation when she first became Queen.
For most of us it seemed that she was immortal, but, sadly she was only
human and now we mourn her passing.
We have performed the loyal toast at all of our luncheons and so, on behalf
of the Pickwick Bicycle Club, we thank you Ma’am for serving us so well.
So life will no doubt change with our new King Charles III, and we too will
change our loyal toast at future luncheons.
