Tom Smart Rides L’Eroica Again…………….

Tom Smart wrote to Joe the Fat Boy – “Last weekend I took part in the 2014
L'Eroica 130 km event in Gaiole in Chianti, Italy. I rode on my 1978 Raleigh bike
with original equipment; jersey & race shorts and the shoes which I was wearing
are from that time when I was riding for the TI Raleigh Team.

More than 5000 participants from all over the world started in the morning on
their 35, 75, 130 or 200 km rides. Around 30-40 % on " Strada Biancha", which
means gravel roads.

The prize for the hard ride was a bottle of Chianti wine which you see in my
bottle cage. At the start line I was standing at 6.30am with an American boy,
who was happy to ride for the first time at L'Eroica. On the road I met some
riders from Australia, coming over only for being part of that event.”

L’Eroica which is held each year in Tuscany ]
