A New Acquisition for the Archives………from 1888
J oseph Smiggers presented this 125 year old Club programme at the December
AGM, having just purchased it on e-Bay for the princely sum of £6.50.
As can be seen, the gathering was held at The Forest Hotel, Chingford on Satur-
day 24th March 1888, T.J. Boulter was the incumbent Samuel Pickwick.
There is no mention of any food –an important point of order for Pickwickian
meetings, but they did have an extensive repertoire of songs to enjoy. A further
point of note that can be seen on the back cover is committee member, one J Atto
– he of the Punch Bowl we see at every Garden Party.
This programme will now be held by Joe the Fat Boy within the Club Archives.
