Our Captain’s Message…..
The Captain is looking forward to all members & guests
having an enjoyable lunch in May and hopefully observing
our ancient traditions.
Some cycling opposites…………….
“ I think the most ridiculous sight in the world is a man on his bicycle, working away with
his feet as hard as he possibly can, and believing that his horse is carrying him; instead of,
as anyone can see, he is carrying his horse.”
Criticism from George Bernard Shaw.
“ To see the golden hiking girl, with wind about her hair,
The tennis playing, biking girl, the wholly-to-my-liking girl,
To see and not to care.
At sundown on my tricycle, I tour the Borough’s edge,
And icy as an icicle see bicycle by bicycle,
Stacked waiting in the hedge.”
Praise from Sir John Betjeman
