Passing of time………..and more friends
Once again it is with sadness that I must report the passing of Club members.
Charles Griffin - Simpson (December 2015)
Charles joined the PBC in 1984 and became a retired member in 2004.
Joe Summerlin - Henry Beller (December 2015)
A Pickwickian since 1983. Harry Foxton -aka The Secretary comments that, Joe was a
“true man of cycling. He was a local & a national official. He worked on major events like
the Milk Race/Tour of Britain, and numerous local road & track events. He was also a
major player in the push to clean up sport in general and cycling in particular from drugs.
He was a real lover of everything cycling and is a real loss to sport in this country.
Brian Montgomery - Captain Boldwig (November 2015)
Had been a member of the PBC since 2001. Brian was the
founder and chairman of the European Bicycle Manufacturers'
Association passed away in November after a long illness. The
EBMA was a protectionist trade organisation raising "anti-
dumping" complaints against mostly Asian bicycle manufacturers.
He was also an official with Comité de Liaison des Fabricants
Européens de Bicyclettes, or COLIBI, and in the 1990s and early
2000s he was in open revolt against the UCI's anti-technological
attempts to make cycle racing more about the ride than the
machine.Brian was based in Paris.
