Annual Golf Day, Cycle Ride & Luncheon

Smithers has once again organised this event for everyone to enjoy, Members and
their guests are cordially invited to participate in a friendly golf competition, enjoy a
cycle ride or just come along and dine, and enjoy typical Pickwickian conviviality
!

Golfers are invited to compete for the magnificent & historic Club trophies, both
members & their guests. The course, founded in 1932 is rural picturesque, not too
demanding but with some challenging holes. There is only one hole where water comes
into play, so no need to bring waders!
Regrettably the Golf Club have increased the green fees this year, hence the increased
cost for them.
!
Cyclists are invited to enjoy a cycle ride under the kind direction of Mr Justice
Stareleigh along the local lanes with a high probability of partaking refreshments in a
hostelry en route.
!
After our chosen exertions Chef Martin will provide Fine Fayre for a late luncheon
during which we can regale each other with tales of highs & lows either with club&ball or
pedal&gel insert.
!
Following last year’s later start time, which produced more golfers and fewer diners,
we shall again meet later at 1000hrs for coffee & rolls (included this year for the
cyclists as well) to allow a first T-off time of 1100hrs. The cyclists will depart at the
same time, and I would estimate that we will dine at approximately 1600hrs.
